Walls

The Western Wall has not stopped wailing

We just forgot its wail

Like the sound of raining amidst hailing

ah the wall of apartheid
the wall of segregation
yes i have been there

i was awed by the wall and i wailed in quit solitude and reflection until…
i was accosted by youthful arrogance who shook cans at in my face to fill with change
which i did not with a smile and then a turn

i was at the wall
and saw no Palestinians i saw no Muslims
i saw injustice, iniquity,inequality just as it was 2000 years ago

i saw tables and umbrellas and chairs for the jewish men
i saw the jewish women crowded without any comforts nor gentlemanly gestures
i saw a wall that everyone saw but all saw it quite differently…

yes i saw the wall and i was most profoundly affected
for i saw just the star of david everywhere
but i didn’t see the Palestinian flag nor the 800 year old Moroccan quarter razed decades ago…
