So, I’ve started volunteering one day a week at an Arab-Jewish bilingual pre-Kindergarten, which is both as enjoyable as it sounds, and also pretty inspiring and thought-provoking (and sad that it is the only one of its kind in Jerusalem). I’ll write about it more in future. Meanwhile, I just wanted to recount an exchange from today:
I explained to a few of the kids that raisins actually came from grapes. They were pretty shocked, but eventually believed me. Then I asked them:
“Where do you think pickles come from?”
One of the little girls looks at me, thinks for a second, smiles and say:
“Grapes.”
