I’m teaching… Hebrew!

Cool, right? For all you folks in Jerusalem, starting tomorrow and then every Wednesday at 5:30 PM for the next 10 weeks, I’ll be teaching an Intermediate Hebrew course through the auspices of the eminently awesome This Is Not An Ulpan.

“Politics, Poetry, Power and Protest”

”Activist, writer and poet Moriel Rothman-Zecher will facilitate the Intermediate Hebrew section of This is Not an Ulpan in Jerusalem. Topics will range from Hebrew poetry (in which students will be given an introduction to a range of modern poetry and poets, and will have the opportunity to try out the cunning of their own Write Hand, as it were, in a judgement-free and supportive space) to the politics of protest (in which the students will learn dozens of useful chants about the occupation, racism, nonviolence and more that they will then be able to recognize and use when attending protests). There will be optional field trips to poetry slams and political protests. The class will also include discussions about issues like the occupation, religion, history, geography, accents and more, all from a teacher who speaks Hebrew pretty good, but will certainly make grammatical mistakes of his own throughout the course of the course. Come. It’ll be really fun.”

Right after my session will be the Intermediate Arabic class, from 7:30-9:30 PM. Beginners Arabic will be from 2-5 PM on Sunday. Beginners Hebrew will be Mondays from 5:30-8:30 PM.
